My name is Lynda McKean. I live in Littleborough, Lancashire (technically it is in Greater Manchester), a small town at the foot of the Pennines between Rochdae and Todmorden. I was born in Bury but my family lived in Middleton, near Manchester, and we moved back there when I was about a year old. I lived in Middleton until I married and we moved to Littleborough. We have been here ever since. I am retired, married to Alan and have two daughter and four grandchildren. I worked at the University of Manchester for twenty five years as an Admissions Officer and the Records Manager for the President and Vice-Chancellor.
I have recently begun to take photography more seriously as I now have the time to go out and about to places and attend events around the area and further afield. Littleborough and its surrounding area is a lovely place. The Rochdale Canal runs through the town on its way to Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Sowerby Bridge all only a few miles away. The Pennine Way lies above the town on Blackstone Edge and leads to the border with West Yorkshire and the villages and towns of Calderdale. So there is plenty of scope for photography even in the local area.
I have been researching my family history for over twenty years and have found so much information about my ancestors, some of which was very surprising, and I hope to write stories and articles for this blog acout where they lived and looking at their lives. I will also be visiting some of the places they lived and adding photos to the blog.
